Create the environment of your dreams with an interior wall, floor, or ceiling mural by Shane McDonald. Imagine looking out a trompe l’oeil window that matches the architecture of your home into a fantastic landscape. Or have an interesting design or scene painted in a place where framed artwork would look awkward. See samples of the variety of spaces murals can be applied.
CONSULTATION: Shane will meet with the patron (or designer/decorator representative) at the proposed mural site to discuss imagery ideas and projected time frame for completion. Shane can make a quick sketch at the initial meeting to confirm the idea for the imagery. He'll then take measurements and photos from which he can produce a detailed color design drawing. The consultation fee usually covers the cost of creating the initial design, but larger projects, may require additional design fees.
PROPOSAL: Soon after the meeting a written proposal will be submitted. This will list the price, any required special equipment (such as scaffolding), the medium that will be used, and the estimated time in which the mural can be completed.
COLOR DESIGN: Once the proposal is accepted and a 1/3 deposit payment is made to cover costs, Shane will produce any additional drawings or photographic references of the mural design for final approval. If necessary, this design will be transferred to the site's mural surface by freehand or by projection.
Shane works on a large mural incorporating portraits of various respected teachers at Carmel Elementary in Woodstock, GA.
MEDIUM: Shane uses fine-art oils, acrylics, and sometimes latex paints, depending on the surface and placement of the mural. If oil-based paint or primer is used on the proposed mural surface, Shane recommends using oil paint on the mural.
REMOVABLE CANVAS: Murals can be created on canvas at Shane's studio and seamlessly installed at the client's site. This makes the mural transportable if the client decides to move at a later date. This option can also be a cost-effective way for the mural to be painted, especially if the mural site is far from Shane's studio.
