Plein Air Landscape Workshop

Plein-Air Landscape Painting
in Acrylics or Oils

Location: TBA

Acrylic by ShaneShane McDonald will guide you from start to completion in your Plein-air landscape using the “alla prima” (all at once) method of painting. This class is designed for students who have already had some basic painting instruction in oils or acrylics. Students will improve their skills painting from life while producing work that pleases themselves. Students will have the opportunity to paint two small paintings during the workshop. The first will be produced by following the instructor as he demonstrates on his own painting step-by-step. Students will learn to enjoy the fast-drying of the acrylics for advanced techniques in achieving texture and depth.

  • Learn to see color and light in landscapes

  • Use techniques to portray depth in open air

  • Compose your landscape for impact

  • Watch demonstrations from the instructor

  • Take your work home without the worry of wet paint!

Sack lunches are supplied. (E-mail Shane to request chicken salad or roast beef sandwich.) All other materials can be supplied during the workshop for the $25 supply fee.
